Who does the cooking?

Hubs only makes one meal - Tacos.  I'm trying to cook with him one night a week and learn him so new tricks.

He makes dinner once a week, and it's either Tacos or callling for pizza/subs.

So who does the majority of the cooking in your houses and do you cook with Hubs/DH?

Re: Who does the cooking?

  • I do most of the cooking., but I don't really enjoy it.  We usually eat out/order in 3 or so times a week.  I also like making something big and eating that throughout the week so I don't have to cook every night.
  • My DH does all the cooking and all the grocery shopping....spoiled rotten here :)
  • I do all the cooking and grocery shopping....unless I make hamburger patties, he'll grill those - but I do most of the grilling too - I get fancy with that!
  • I do most of the cooking and he does the cleanup!  He cooks breakfast on the weekends!
  • I do most of the cooking... except I'm pretty sure he's made dinner that I've prepped for the last two weeks.  As for grocery shopping, I'm spoiled... I rarely go alone- usually he does it :)  Oh and he's pretty good at cleaning... really good at cleaning actually.  Thanks for this question; I appreciate him more :)
  • My husband does both the cooking and the grocery shopping.  He does the former because he loves to cook and is a fabulous chef.  He does the latter because I can't be trusted to come home w/ JUST what we need, haha!!  On a more serious note, he does the grocery shopping basically because he works from home and it's nice to get out - he goes every day to buy what we're going to have for dinner and to pick up anything we need that may have come up that day.  It's just easier.  Before we had Alyssa, I did the grocery shopping.  I know, I'm lucky.  =)
  • Definitely me.  No, I don't particularly cook with DH- unless you count him getting Alex's food ready while I make our dinner.
  • i do all the cooking/baking. the husband is only good at making one thing- eggs :)
  • I do most of the cooking, but DH is definitely the better cook!  He will cook every once in a while....maybe once a week.
  • We take turns. And when he does dinner, I do dishes and clean and vice versa.
  • We share the cooking duties. We both (usually) go grocery shopping and we both cook. If we have a nice breakfast in the mornings he does the cooking then, but only because he's amazing at pretty much all breakfast foods.

I wish we alternated cleaning up...

  • we actually split cooking, though he loves to and I hate it. Mostly, I get home before he does so I'll cook. He is more likely to make a fancy meal and he cooks on the weekends.

  • Ummm... yeah I don't cook.  I suck at it but am trying to learn.  I have picked up Tuesday nights around here in the kitchen.  Tonight I am just making something simple but will soon venture to new recipes.  DH loves to cook and is really good at it so I let him go crazy in the kitchen.  He even does big breakfasts on the weekend! I do the dishes a lot since he cooks but sometimes I'm a brat and don't do them so he does.

We try to cook together but since he does it all the time he naturally takes over and that aggravates me so it becomes his cooking instead of ours... so yeah, we don't do it that often but it can be fun when we do!

As far as food shopping- we usually alternate who goes- for variety and just because schedule wise that's what works for us.  Sometimes we go together, which can be fun!

Well that ended up longer than I meant it to!

  • well let's see when we first got together I did NO cooking at all.  And in the ten years we've been together I've picked up a thing or two and can actually follow a recipe.  That said, since DH started his new job almost two years ago...I do 95% of the cooking now.  And I am not a huge fan of it!
