Lurker Question - Foxgloves

Hi Ladies,

We recently purchased a house with what appears to be a beautifully landscaped back yard.  Not all of the perennials are marked, but one of the ones that is marked is a foxglove. I've read some differing reports about how poisonous they are, and we have a 18 month old chocolate lab who likes to snack on twigs, plants, etc.

Would you dig it up and replace it with something else?  Does anyone have experience with foxgloves and dogs?

Thanks!

Re: Lurker Question - Foxgloves

  • Hi! I asked a similar question to this about a week or so ago. They are very poisonous. I have two pups who don't typically munch on plants, but I decided to remove mine anyways just in case. Is there a place you can transplant it to where the baby and pups won't go? I moved mine to the front yard.

I think removing it now is better than taking the chance of a doctor's bill or vet bill and a whole ton of worry later.

  • I would remove them in a heartbeat

  • Get rid of them.  Not worth the risk.
