I need suggestions for windowbox filler, please.

I live in zone 6, and would like to plant something in my 3 windowboxes (they face the sunrise) that dont take a lot of upkeep (is this even possible?).

I like orange/yellows, purple, greens and whites.  Any suggestions?

Re: I need suggestions for windowbox filler, please.

  • I'm on the border of zone 6 & 7 and had southern facing windowboxes that got all day sun. I've used vinca and portulacas with much success.  Both are drought tolerant so I didn't have to water them every single day like I did when I had other flowers in there.

One note, I can't usually find them in garden stores until closer to Memorial Day.

Oooo, Vinca sounds and looks lovely!  Thanks so much for the suggestion, I will keep my eye out for them!
