F*cking unbelievable!

The title company just contacted my agent and said that she needs to write an addendum saying we'll pay all closing costs and for the home warranty. We have a fully executed contract saying the bank would pay X amount! The amount on the contract is less than the original amount we included in our offer because they countered and now they're trying to say they won't pay any? Why would they bother countering? Why wouldn't they have just said zero when they countered? I'm so pissed right now.

My realtor says to stay calm because we do have a contract and she's going to get it all worked out, but I just can't believe they're doing this one week before we're supposed to close. This has been a 5 month process and we are so close to it being over! So damn close! Damn you Nationstar!!!! Angry

Re: F*cking unbelievable!

  • Bottom line with house sales: it's never over until you actually sign the contract. Ours kept going until we walked in to sign.
  • Yeah...I do know this and I knew that stuff could come up but I guess I figured it would be something about paperwork and having to push back the close date, or a similar issue. I didn't expect the bank to try and change the terms of the contract this close to the end.

  • That sucks! I'm sorry this has been such a debacle for you. Hopefully your realtor will get it all sorted out & you can close next week!

  • Yep, house buying is a real PITA, even more so I would imagine when you enter into the realm of short sales and foreclosures. I'm sorry. I know what a long process this has been for you guys and having anything else (especially this close to closing) slow down the process must be so frustrating. I hope your realtor can figure it out for you ASAP!

  • I'm so sorry! I was hoping you'd have an easier time with yours! Ours didn't stop until literally the moment we walked in to sign! DH and I were literally threatening to walk completely until the day of closing! It was ridiculous!

In the end, you do have a contract that you can hold them to, so you have that in your corner. And what sounds like a good realtor who is willing to fight for you.

Know that once it's all over, it will be a massive weight instantly off your shoulders, AND you'll have a home to live in all to yourselves! We've now officially been here a month now, and couldn't be happier. It's amazing how much stress was released once it was all done!

    Good luck!

  • Like the PPs, we had issues until we signed the papers. Good luck!
  • Thanks ladies. I'm trying to keep everything you've said in mind. I know in the long run it will be worth it.

Oh, and now the listing agent is claiming she never told us the bank would pay a certain amount in closing costs as part of their counter even though we have a signed addendum and email from her saying so. My realtor said "I have an email from you, saying exactly that and I'm forwarding it to you right now." In response, the listing agent burst into tears and told my realtor that her husband died yesterday and she's all over the place making funeral arrangements. My realtor didn't even know how to react. She's dealing with the title company and bank directly now since the listing agent is clearly a hot mess.

Yeah...this woman started to drop the ball a few months after we put in the offer after being really on top of things so I wonder if it was an extended illness or something. Either way, it's nuts. I really wish I could have some wine but on top of everything else I'm coming down with a cold so no wine for me. Sad

Cold = even more reason for wine!

Or at least massive doses of NyQuil (alcohol is good, see?)
