Easy Updo

Can any of you recommend and "easy" updo?  My sisters wedding is this weekend and I don't want to pay to have it done if I can do it pretty easy.  The dress I have has a cute back that I'd like to show off so I'm thinking I would put it all up.  Any suggestions?

My hair will only hold a curl if I don't wash it for like two days and use five cans of hair spray.

Re: Easy Updo

  • What about a ballerina style bun?  Where you kind of tuck the ends under so it looks like you have a donught?   You could glam it up with a cute headband.

I need to find a pic.

  • Kind of like this: http://www.sheknows.com/beauty-and-style/hairstyle-photo-gallery/easy-updos/classic-ballerina-bun

You could do it to one side too vs. straight back.

  • I hot-rolled mine, then teased it up, and put it in a side bun for a wedding last summer.  It was super easy, and the curls made the bun poofier.  Try googling easy up-dos, you might be able to find some step-by-step stuff :)

  • I don't speak hair, but this reminds me. Didn't you get your hair done last week? What did you decide to do with it?

Ditto!  Depending on the humidity this may be the best option.

I went back to my blonde and took about an inch off with lots of layers.  No bangs but she did start my face frame with the shortest layer at chin level so I have some play with it.

I would LOVE to be able to do something like this but I can never seem to make my "poof" look right.  Any tips?

Don't wash your hair is the first thing, second spray some hairspray that isn't too sticky (I personally love Sebastian Zero Gravity, but it's expenisve, a good alternative is Tresseme 2 Fine Mist).  When you are back-combing hold the hair loose and my friend who is a stylist told me to say my ABC's.  I back-comb for less time than that, but use your best judgement.  Loosely smooth it and pin.

I know, me too!  I usually tease a little, and pin it up a minimum of 10 times before I get it right.  :o)  Then I spray a helluva lot of hairspray to hold it.

these are good tips. also, i like the jessica alba look better then the other picture and it's actually easier to do. just hairspray and tease the crap out of your hair. Make it at least 3 times bigger then you would ever think of even wearing it, that way when you smooth it out you have a lot to work with. then just pull it back. sometimes i will make the pony tail not tight to my head and the give it that pull from behind to tighten it up and give a little extra poof.  leave a piece out on the bottom and wrap it around the hair tie. there you go. just try it out a couple times before and you should get it.

if all else fails i would do a low side pony tail. :)

  • I bought the Goody Spin Pins the other day & am pretty impressed. If my hair was thicker I'd like them even better.

I have watched this girls "bump its" tutorials. They were good, but I still have not mastered the "bump it."
