Re: Poll - What's for lunch?

  • A plain turkey sandwich with mustard and some strawberry applesauce.

I also have a chocolate chip cookie dough Larabar for later if I get hungry.

    I have hereby disciplined myself.

  • Nothing exciting just a pretzel, turkey lean pocket.  Hope it's good.  Afternoon snack is Yoplait strawberry yogurt.  Yum!

Wow you guys are way better than me...  :)

I was supposed to go to lunch with DH to our fave Thai place, but he won't be able to make it.. so I am thinking I might go to Panda Express for the 2nd day in a row.

I usually get the mixed vegetables instead of rice and orange chicken.. :-/

  • Lean cuisine Five cheese something or other and Jello. For snack I'll have a small apple with a little cheese. Bo-ring.
  • I'm thinking Pei Wei today.  I'm horrible, but bringing food from home grosses me out.
  • Lunch today is what I call "presentation food". At almost every poster session, talk, etc. here at UTSW they have a display of food - fruit, chips, snacks, etc. etc. I will probably grab some fruit and veggies if they have any.

Lunch for me is usually 1/2 of an avocado sandwich with tomato, alfalfa sprouts, bell pepper and cucumber with a side of fruit and 1/4 cup of almonds.

Just another day in never never land. Photobucket
  • You will get no inspiration from me:

    1.  you will probably not find my food anywhere near you.

    2.  I am having to eat in the gross cafeteria today since I forgot my lunch.

Hah! I'm the exact opposite. Eating out really grosses me out.

This happened to my mom yesterday (she teaches 4th grade), and she said she ate a nasty cafeteria hamburger. Blech.

  • It's Wednesday, so our office goes out to eat.  We are going to Mi Cocina.  Yum.

Does eating at home in general gross you out?

I had an evil step-mother (yes... no joke, she was awful) when I was in middle & high school.  My dad divorced her right after I graduated.

She would have me and my sister cook dinner every.single.night and then save EVERY SINGLE leftover (like, even the burned stuff on the bottom on a dish).  Well, once a week, she'd have "left over night".  The stickler?  My sister and I were the only ones required the eat the left overs.  She would order out for her and her kid.

Now, warming things up in the microwave (frozen dinners included) to eat just makes me blaaaaah.  I won't even eat left overs at home.  My BIL lives the next breezeway over from us... I take him all left overs.

Nope, I'd rather eat food I cooked at home than eat out.  See my 'splaining.

Steak fingers and mashed potatoes.  I get that they're trying to make school food healthier but, if something is supposed to be fried (like steak fingers or fries), it just really gets soggy when it's baked.  Plus I have to beg for a little extra gravy to dip them in.  Lastly, most of our food is served at luke warm temperature.  Yumm.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, but I'm so jealous of you girls who get to go out for lunch, even if it's just to CFA.  The biggest lunch winner I know:  Bill.  They get catered lunch almost every day.  iFratelli's.  Babe's.  However, they do have to sit through meetings to get the deliciousness.

  • I think we are having Fuddruckers today.  I love their sweet potato fries!

Kathy- I love Panda Express!  Especially the orange chicken!

  • It was going to be a salad with some chicken but I just found out they are serving taco salads in the cafeteria so I will be getting me some of that because it does not come around very often.

  • Left over California Pizza Kitchen margherita pizza....Tom Thumb had them on sale this weekend for $5 each!

I don't think so.  The cafeteria is just plain sad.

Yeah, he knew but didn't really say much sadly.  He eventually divorced her so it's water under the bridge now, I suppose.  But, my dislike for microwaved food sticks.  :)

  • I will admit, that's one thing I miss about working. When I worked downtown, I would eat out every day. Most days I would eat breakfast, and lunch out because of all the restaurants they had in the tunnel underground. Mmmm...Chick-fil-a breakfast.

Although, I have lost a good 5lbs, and save $100/month. Sooo...I guess I'm better off. But, I get bored eating the same types of things for lunch.

  • Amy's cheese enchilada and black beans.  Mmmmmm.  We usually have an office snack on Wednesdays but it's usually something totally unhealthy.

I am already looking forward to dinner which will be spaghetti with organic tomato sauce.  Yum.

  • Brianna - wow that is the definition of an "evil stepmother".  My goodness how awful.

  • Well, I'm late to the party, but I just got back from eating at a little diner.  Chicken fried steak, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and biscuits and gravy.  Yuuummmmmm.  I need a pillow now, and the weather isn't helping!
