Spiders

Its the time of the year that spiders have found their way inside again.  Spiders creep me out but for the most part I just deal with them knowing that they eat all sorts of other pests.  However yesterday as I walked up the stairs and turned the corner their was a wolf spider the size of a golf ball, it was the biggest spider i have seen outside a glass cage.  Luckily  my husband was able to catch and kill it.  But for me that was the last straw.  I can handle the small ones even the medium decent sized ones but the thought of that one roaming my house and possibly even in my bedroom at night gives me the willies.  So are there any eco friendly ways of detering spiders inside the house.  I do not want to use any chemicals but I also don't want to constantly be frightened of finding another monster spider.

Ha ha... I grew up on a farm, and when I moved out to go to college, I found a "colony" of them under my bed, where I had been stashing stuff (pots/dishes/linens/etc) to take with me.  I screamed bloody murder and my step-dad came in to see what the comotion was about, I told him a spider was under my bed, so he thought he would be the manly man and take care of it for me. He can running out, said he needed re-enforcements and grabed a tenis racket and a cast iron skillet to go back in and attack! I HATE wolf spiders, who knows how long they lived under my bed Hmm

  • We have easy access to our attic and sweeping the spider webs out (or vacumming) periodically keeps them away fairly (surprisingly) well. If you can do the same it might help.
