Costa Rica
My DH and I decided we want to go to Costa Rica for our belated honeymoon. Any recommendations on resources to check out? We are considering using a Friendly Planet group tour because so many things are included in the price (lodging, airfare, some food, and transport). I have a friend who used them and loved it. We don't generally get an opportunity to travel outside of the US, so I'm very new to planning for this and where to look to compare prices for things. We plan on using a lonely planet guidebook. We went there for our honeymoon last year and had an AMAZING time! I highly recommend it. I just booked everything myself because none of the packages I found had all aspects that I wanted and it was pretty easy to coordinate and book everything. This time of year I recommend the Pacific side because it is hurricane season on the Caribbean side.
What areas does that package have you going to? We went to Jaco and Manuel Antonio, both were great but MA was my favorite by far! I would go back there tomorrow if I could, the rain forest met the most beautiful beach! I would not waste your time spending any time at all in San Jose, we stayed there one night just because our flight was early the next morning and it is a big, dirty city with no street signs so you can't find your way around. We did not make it to the Arenal (sp?) Volcano, but I hear that is great too, so next time we go that is on my list. Let me know what specific questions you have, I did a lot of research before booking everything!
