How was Duluth?? We're headed up there on Saturday. We're staying at Cove Point on Sunday night. I can't wait! We have plans to stop at Betty's Pies, Gooseberry Falls, and Splitrock Lighthouse (the 1st day open for tours!)
How was Cove Point Lodge? Did you eat at their restaurant?
Hope you had fun! I'm really looking forward to a few days away!

Hi. I've been meaning to come on and give you are review.
It was awesome! We had a great time. We left on Sunday (Mother's Day) and got there about 5 PM. We stayed two nights at Cove Point Lodge. It was BEAUTIFUL. Unfortunately, it rained all day on Monday (our full day there) so we didn't do much exploring. We didn't go to Split Rock or Gooseberry Falls. I was a little bummed about the rain, but what can you do?
We did eat there. It was very yummy. With your Groupon, you get a certificate for two meals (up to $23 each), but it is for your entr?e only and you can only use it on the first night there, which I almost missed (you are only staying one night so it doesn't matter for you). So you can't use it towards drinks, apps, tip, etc. The stuffed mushrooms were really good. You also get a bottle of champagne when you check in.
We stayed in room 202 (which is the room I had requested, but they couldn't guarantee) and it was awesome. We had a fireplace and a Jacuzzi (in the bathroom). King size bed. The pillows were kind of hard, so if you like soft pillows bring your own. I usually bring my own and I didn't this time and wished I would have.
Keep in mind - you are in the middle of nowhere, so things close early. It may have been partly that we were still in what is considered the off season or it could have been that things just close earlier in the middle of nowhere. I think this weekend marks the beginning of peek season though, so hours are probably different. Betty's Pie closed at 7 pm on Monday night. We (stupidly) drove all the way there only to find it closed at 7:30. The restaurant in the Lodge closes at 8, so we missed that too. We ended up with pizza delivered to our room on Monday night. lol.
We went to Cove Point Crossings (it's a little bar at the top of the hill from the Lodge) and had pizza for lunch on Monday. It was AWESOME. The crust was ultra thin, which I love.
Because of the rain, we spent most of our stay in our room, but it was nice and relaxing and good one on one time. We watched a couple movies, but be warned, the TV's are TINY. 13 inch. The have movies for rent in the reception area, but bring your own if you are going to watch any. Their selection wasn't very good. I did a lot of reading, both on the drive (DH did all the driving both ways) and in the room.
All in all, it was a great 2 days away and it was much needed. I didn't want to come back to reality. I asked DH if he thought it was worth the drive and if he'd want to go back and he said yes to both.
Have fun. Let me know what you guys think when you get back.
Sweet! Thanks for all of the info! I'm really excited!! :-)
