Will green beans or cucumbers grow on a single 5ft pole?
I have a small garden and need to make use of the limited space available. I'm sure the veggies would grow but will they grow well enough to make it worth my while - or do I need to get a larger, more spread out type of trellis for them?
Thanks!

Three sisters is an intriguing planting method that seems fairly space efficient, although I haven't personally attempted it.

My cukes used my corn as a trellis last year (and pulled it down). With cukes at least, I would be afraid that the weight of the fruit would pull the vine down along the pole. Like a PP mentioned, I would suggest a tomato cage or at least two poles so that the plant could leverage between them.
For my SFG raised bed, I built a trellis along the back row of the bed which allows you to plant more stuff nearby. I just put tall poles in each back corner and tied one across the top and then strung the nylon netting between them. Mine look like this but not as fancy. I used the green rubber garden poles from Home Depot.
