Does anyone have a recipe for White Sangria?
i need a good, tried and true white sangria recipe...anyone have a good one to share?
thanks!
Re: Does anyone have a recipe for White Sangria?
1. 1.5 liter bottle of chilled Gallo Family Muscato
2. 2 inches of fresh ginger root cut in slivers, 1/8 inch thick.
3. 4 cinnamon sticks
4. the rind of two lemons and one orange.
5. 1 tablespoon of orange blossom water(found at the local ethnic market--if not add more orange rind).
6. 2 cups of ice or one cup if you want a stronger drink.
7. 2 tablespoons of honey(I like orange blossom honey, but any honey will do--suit it to your taste).
(optional: a handfull of fresh basil leaves, and/or a handful of honeysuckle blossoms)
Directions:
Take all your ingredients except the ice and mix them together in a large jar or pitcher just as if you were making lemonade. Let them sit for about 2 or 3 hours in the fridge. Strain and put into serving piece and add ice once you're ready to serve.
The wine is already very sweet so you don't necessarily need the honey. If you think it is a little too sweet, Barefoot Moscato is a slightly tarter version. A Gallo Rhine or Chablis(stated in order from sweeter to dryer) will work if you want something more tart. Add more ice if you need to water it down.
Final option if you want to give it fiz: Use chilled seltzer water instead of the ice when serving. If you want a sweeter fiz add martinellis cranberry mix(I don't recommend using the Gallo Moscato and Martinellis together unless you have a crowd that loves sweet drinks).
This recipe from Real Simple is my favorite.
Here's one from Martha Stewart. Haven't tried it, but it looks good.
Last weekend, I tried this recipe for peach sangria made with white wine. My guests raved about how good it was, but personally, it wasn't my favorite, I think it's because I'm not a huge peach fan. I made this recipe mostly because I have a friend who loves peach stuff, and she really liked this one.

Mine is pretty simple. For my annual Cinco de mayo parties, I always make red and white sangria and they go quickly!
White wine, (Reisling or something sweet) white grape juice, brandy, simple syrup or some sweetly-flavored coffee syrup and lots of sliced peaches/nectarines, Granny Smith apples or Bosc pears, and mango slices.
