Droid battery problems?

I've had a Droid 2 Global for about 3 weeks now, but the battery life is horrible... is there any way to improve that? For example, I charged it all last night (10:30 pm to 5:30 am), and it's only got about 20% left at 1 pm.  I've checked my email about 5 times, made 2 calls, & read off the nook application for about 15 minutes.  That's all!  How can I make the battery last longer?? TIA!

Re: Droid battery problems?

  • I use the Juice Defender app on my Droid 2 and haven't had any problems with battery life.  It's free, so you could give it a shot and if you don't notice an improvement, you can just get rid of it.
  • I have an iPhone and the battery life is not so good....smart phones really are not known for having great battery life. My advice is to turn off things like WiFi, 3G/4G, Bluetooth and such if you really don't need them on. Try turning down the brightness of the screen, too.

  • I have the (free) Advanced Task Killer app on my droid.  I've noticed that apps will sometimes randomly run in the background regardless of whether I've used them or not which drains the battery quickly.  App killer is an easy way to kill them all at once.

I have a Droid Eris and can typically go 2 days before charging.

  • Smartphones suck for battery life.  I'd just buy an extra charger for your car and your office, and then install a task killer program or battery life program like pp said.

I have the Droid (original) and have to charge it a couple times a day, it's because the batteries are so small they can't fully support the phone running.  Design flaw.
