damn you nut grass

poking up through my new sod

taking over my flower beds

I know they have a sophisticated underground network that I likely cannot destroy without using some powerful chemicals that we are not willing to use since we are all about organic lawn care.

so I continue to pull them up, one at a time

Re: damn you nut grass

  • Is that the grass that has pods?  When my parents regraded there entire lawn they finished it off with sod filled with those things.  They grew what seemed like x4 as fast as the regular grass.  We called them alien pods because of it.  My dad paid me and my sisters 1 cent a piece to pick them (he never really counted the bucket fulls just guessed).  It took a long time but eventually we'd get them all because when you're a kid 1 cent seems like a lot, LOL!

I feel for you.  My garlic mustard situation is out of control and I'm trying to pull it all by hand too.

Now if only you could teach the pugs to eat them you be set.

  • I got rid of nutgrass by hand-pulling.  It takes time, but it can be done.
