Packing China and Stemware?
We need to box up our good china to shuffle things around in preperation for the constantly anticipated, but not yet begun, house reno.
What's the best way to package china (plates, bowls, serving dishes) and stemware? Bubble wrap? tissue? Both? Neither?
Re: Packing China and Stemware?
I've always used the "Dish packs" you can buy from the Container Store or Storage places.
At most self- storage places they sell boxes and one of the boxes they have is specifically for china and glass wear. It looks like the carton that wine bottles are shipped in or one that holds glass christmas tree ornaments with little dividers.
I would get a few of those boxes and then wrap the glasses in bubble wrap before sliding them into the slots. For china, my grandmother keeps felt in between the dishes that she has stacked in her china cabinet. I have no idea if that is ideal...

We used newspaper for our china. A lot of newspaper. No cracks or breaks (although we do have the newer type of china that is super crack/break resistant).
We don't have much stemware, and still have the tubes they came with, so we used that.

Yeah, we have an empty tote laying around that I think will become the china's new home.
So...dumb question - where do you find packing paper? Besides the storage place itself.
