Or are you getting beamed up with all the other "rapturists"?
Can someone explain to me what exactly some people believe is going to happen....? I've heard stories of people cashing in their 401K and selling everything because they really believe they are going to go *poof* on 5/21.
Links to any credible news sources would be appreciated.

Re: Plans for May 22nd?
Oh yeah - I saw that RV advertising this driving around a few weeks ago.
And then apparently the world is ending on October 21st...?
What kills me is that people are quoting Bible passages word for word and then interpreting them to mean all of these crazy things.
Do they not realize the original Bible was probably not written in English and has most likely been translated over and over through the years since it was written? That is what I don't get about people that follow "The Word" word for word.
Like....maybe Jesus walking on water was really originally written as, "Dude, it was so cold here the water froze and Jesus walked on it." ?? Who really knows...
eta: I'm not getting down on reading the Bible and believing its teachings...I just get hung up on the people who take things word-for-word and fail to see the bigger picture.
I grew up Catholic and my mom says that the Bible is just a bunch of stories put together to scare people into following rules with the threat of going to Hell.
Stories grow and evolve over time. Ditto Kiz... who knows...
ETA: If you believe in any religion, I'm totally not trying to insult anyone - but that's my mom's opinion so take it with a grain of salt if you will...
I have been wondering where all this came from, but have not cared enough to look anything up until now. I guess the main guy who is predicting this has predicted end days before and was obviously wrong...
It's sad that people spend their lives worrying about these things. The world will end one day, there's nothing we can do it about it, just live your life!

My high school health teacher had friends or family who believed in end of times, sold everything and...... well, yeah. How do you tell the furniture store sales guy, "well, we need to buy everything! We sold everything thinking we wouldn't exist, but I guess we do and we need somewhere to sit!"
The other thing that gets me is one cult believes you need to collect silver (not participate in the economy via stocks, 401k, etc.) That's awesome, except when we're in the 3 months of antichrist, don't you think the grocery story owner will see NO VALUE in silver over, say, bartering for useful stuff that has some gain to him or her...since silver has no value in the end of times.
I guess I'm a fan of logical consistency even if I disagree with the beginning of the logic.
Agreed! It is all so foolish - even if things were to end, how do these fanatics really know that they will be amongst the "saved?" Just live your life for the here and now with reasonable expectations for the future - but don't fret over when everything will end or how it will end!
Plus - according to the bible, aren't there supposed to be "signs" that the end is near - - plagues, locusts and whatnot? Have we had anything like that? Don't think so!
People will argue that earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes, animals falling from the sky en masse are all signs...
I think everything is open to interpretation.
Like I interpret the good guide pyramid to mean that I should have chocolate cake every day.
Apparently the guy is saying that Jesus is coming on the 22nd, but that they world won't end until October 19th, or something like that....
I guess the locusts and plagues will come between that time...

Yes and also according to the Bible no one will know when it is going to happen so I always find it silly when supposed Bible believers say they know when the world is ending. (and I am a Bible believer, fwiw)

DH and I are going to sit outside for a while on the 21st at 6 pm. Don't want to be knocked unconscious during the rapture, ya know?
We're participating in a 5K on the 22nd, so hoping that's still on. Oh, and my birthday is on the 23rd, so I guess we'll really live it up...should be easy to get reservations with half the world gone, no?
If it's going to end, this is a good month for me. I spent way too much already and I'm pretty much broke until next month. So it would make it easier for me if I only have to stretch for like the next week.
I'm cool with it.
We're kind of going out.
Exactly what I was thinking...
When I hear things like this, I just think of my crazy Aunt who stockpiled food and was worried when Y2K came around... 11 yrs ago.
Bring it.
Sure! I just went to Costco yesterday. I'll bring the meat...
I can't keep up!
That is the Mayan's best guess. So....are they exempt from the rapture on May 21st and then they just hang out until "their" date?
It's all a bunch of hooey to me!
I'll bring the cocktails
Haha. Awesome. *cheers*!
Wait, Kiz.... it doesn't mean that? My diet is screwed.
