Menu Suggestions for Jungle Themed Baby Shower?

Looking for creative menu suggestions for a jungle themed baby shower. So far, I have:

Jungle Juice (punch)

Tropical Fruit

Monkey Bars

Any suggestions?

Re: Menu Suggestions for Jungle Themed Baby Shower?

  • I guess jungle juice is different in Washington - where I went to college, it was Hawaiian Punch and Everclear!

Feel free to listen to the other posters, but I think it's more important to serve a well-balanced menu than to shoe-horn foods into a theme.  If I were hosting, I'd simply serve a variety of tasty, normal foods and keep my theme to invitations and decor.  A few references are ok, like a coconut dessert or banana pudding, but I'd keep it normal other than that.

  • Just wanted to say that the jungle themed baby shower sounds cute! (It might be a common thing, but I don't know much about baby stuff.)

  • I agree with an above poster. Don't think too hard about it. Stick with summery foods: lots of fresh fruit and veggies, maybe a salad with mango in it for a tropical feel. Do some chicken satay with dipping sauces. Maybe go all out on a desert option, like cupcakes with palm trees and monkeys on them, or a cake that is jungle theme. Really, let's be honest, no one is going to say "Man, that was a great shower...if only she had roasted a pig on a spit in her yard to keep with the theme."

    Sounds fun!

  • I just threw a jungle-themed shower for my girlfriend and we didn't go overboard but did incorporate a little jungle theme into with coconut desserts and did fresh fruit kabobs.  For the rest of the food we did 'normal' stuff. We did little bags of animal crackers for a favor - huge hit with both kids and adults. Its a super cute theme - good luck!
