(yet another) Diva question

First of all -- LOVE. IT. Never going back.

Second of all -- I thought I remembered a bunch of girls using Dr Bronner's un-scented liquid soap with it, so I bought that. But then on reading the pamphlet, they say don't use castile soap. Was I wrong? What do you use?

Yeah, I use Dr. Bronners anyway.  I dont even worry about using unscented either just whatever I have.
    nothing
  • No, not wrong.

    I too use the babymild.

Dr. Bronner's is the only soap we have in the house, so I just said, "eff it."  I'm not about to buy another soap just to wash my DC.

  • I use what I've got.  Hot water to clean at the end of the 'month'.

  • I use the Diva Wash because I really like how it smells. :)
  • I just use whatever handsoap is in our bathroom and rinse well. I've never had a problem, and it's been 8 years. I use some hydrogen peroxide to remove stains every few months. I only remember to boil it a few times a year. Again... no problems.

8 years with the same cup?  I remember reading when I got mine that you're supposed to replace every year and wondering if people actually do.  I've had mine for a little over a year now and was wondering if I should really replace it when it seems good as new still.

OP - I use Dr. B's too and so far no issues.

They say you are supposed to replace it yearly now, but many years ago back when Token bought hers (and maybe in the year or so before I bought mine) there was no recommendation to replace it annually.  Some speculate the replacement recommendation was to increase sales and some claim it's because the government stepped in and said they had to say that at.  Either way, it seems entirely unnecessary to me and I have no intention of replacing mine yearly just "because."  That kind of defeats the environmental and cost savings purposes IMO.

FWIW, I've never boiled mine in the probably 3-4 years I've had it and I've never had a problem.  I also just use whatever soap is handy, be it hand soap or shampoo (although I do try not to use conditioning or dandruff shampoo, because that just seems weird).

  • Yeah, I bought mine before they started saying it needed replacing all the time. So I didn't, and it still looks like new.

I may buy something new now that I'm passing both the "over 30" and the "had a baby" threshold. I'm considering trying another lesser known brand just for variety, but I can not wait until I can use a cup again. Pads suck.
