Ok, I know we had a similar post a while back, but I am really getting in to this couponing thing. That show on TLC has me very motivated. I did a dry run today and saved 55%. My goal is to get up there with even more savings. This may be TMI but I got panty liners for free with my coupons! I do have to admit that I accidentally threw those coupons away and...yes, I went through the trash to find them. I swear I'm not crazy! Because of that I went & got a binder and organizers to keep everything all organized.
I don't think I wanna get as carried away as some of the people on that show with 300 rolls of paper towels, 1000 tubes of toothpaste, etc.
Are any of y'all getting into it too? Any tips to share?
Re: Couponing
Wow, that's awesome. I'm definitely intrigued by couponing, but I just don't have the time for it at the moment.
My sister is starting to get into it. She has a couple friends that do it as well. One of them bought 6 things of baby formula because she had coupons for them. Problem with that is she doesn't have any babies and isn't planning on it.
So, my only piece of advice is to only get things you'll actually use.
Before H had a salary and was only working for tips and peanuts, I was big into couponing. I still have a binder and everything. I will admit that I got super lazy about it over the last few months since he took his management position, but we are now on the fast track to saving for a house, paying off the last of my debt, and getting ready to pay to file for H to adopt my son (DS calls him Dad already, and we want things to be legal should anything happen to me - not that my folks would fight him for DS or anything, but still). That's a lot of money we'll be sending out the door in the next between all those things, so I want to start getting serious about it again. I keep meaning to sign up for the $13 Sunday-only subscription to the local paper so I can get the coupons, but I keep forgetting. Today is not the day, though, because I just got home from the vet with a $150 bill and a quote for about $500 to extract my cat's tooth! Ugh.
Point is, when I used to coupon (and shop the circulars - we have four supermarkets within two miles or so from us, so we could afford to go to each for better deals on meat, etc.) I used to save so much and get so many free products. afullcup.com is a great website in NC that matches coupons to circulars and there's a message board full of people sharing deals. It's a great place to start.

I have gotten into the couponing thing also
Congrats on your savings. I have gotten quite a few free products in the last few weeks and have a coupon binder to keep everything organized. I have been saving about the same amount on my grocery bill the last month. Another place to check for great coupon match ups is drug stores (CVS, walgreens, etc). I got free infant formula last week from CVS for my close friend who recently had twins, she was so happy.
Tips:
1. I began emailing companies that I buy from on a regular basis and even wrote to Purex after trying a great new product (that I got for 1.00 after sales / coupons). I got a letter with 10 coupons in the mail yesterday for future purchases.
2. I use the following websites
http://thekrazycouponlady.com/krazy-this-week/
http://moneysavingmom.com/
http://www.livingrichwithcoupons.com/
3. I also get free samples of products in the mail, which usually come with coupons.
LOL! I wonder what she thought she would do with them when she bought them, or did she just get that carried away?
I feel like I would be like that... I want to use coupons, but I hardly ever see ones for things we use. For example, we hardly ever buy packaged food items, and DH is very brand conscious about toilet paper. I find in-store sales at the grocery store easier to make use of.
And those people who buy 300 rolls of toilet paper and 1000 tubes of toothpaste... where do they keep those? Do they have a supply bunker or something?
Actually some of them have shelves all over their houses with everything they have bought. Literally, the products consume their homes. This one lady has a locked room in her basement so her kids won't touch her stash. This one guy had over 1000 tubes of toothpaste, etc. and he got with a charity that sends care packages to our troops. He made up a whole bunch of packages to send over seas.
Thanks for the tips ladies! I am being brand conscious so that I'm not just buying a bunch of crap because it's a good steal. I got the name brand toothpaste we use for $0.49 (regularly over $3), and steals on other things we use. I did start going to the websites of the companies whose products we use and got some coupons just for registering on their sites.
