Dog Themed First Birthday
DS's birthday party is in two weeks and we just decided that we were going with a dog theme, since he is OBSESSED with dogs (He says "Dog, Dada, Dozer (the dog's name), Moo (IL's dog's name) and Mama" -- in that order).
The invites had his picture with a dog and is "hosted" by the dog.
I'm trying to think of cute ways to do food (we're thinking a cook-out on the grill) and cute decorations.

Re: Dog Themed First Birthday
Hot dog bar with lots of different toppings, dog bone or fire hydrant cake, cookies decorated to look like dog treats...
That's all I've got.

Definitely hot dogs and a crazy dog cake. Love the dog bowl idea.
Any ideas for decorations?
And, for food, I was thinking hot dogs and brats and a baked potato bar, then some fresh veggies and things like that for sides. Does that go together?
Fresh veggies of course, but baked potatoes with hot dogs, not so much. Potato salad would be better with hot dogs.
Decorations-wise, you could probably get a lot of mileage out of a dog-paw rubber stamp - on the paper tablecloth, napkins, balloons, streamers, etc. But there are also usually dog-themed decorations at any party store.

while I don't think hotdogs and baked potatoes go together...I think some of the topping can be the same like cheese, chili, onions.
Puppy chow is an awesome idea...
I know they sell these crackers called scooby snacks that are like graham crackers shaped like dog bones...
there's clifford the big red dog you can probably find decorations for....
here are some helpful ideas!
