Ants In the garden?

When I was planting my seedlings in our veggie garden this year I got a few bite marks from ants.  I noticed there were TONS of them.  Well, I put out one of those little traps where they go in and eat the poison and take it back to their homes.  I used this method since I didn't want to spray anything onto plants I'm eating.

Well, they seemed to have eaten holes all through my tomato plants!  I'm not sure what to do.  I have some extra seedlings to replace the plants but I'm afraid it will happen again.  Is there anything natural to put out that aunts dislike?

TIA!

The method you chose works fine, it just requires time. How long has it been?

Do you know what kind of ants you have? Are they fire ants? Ants don't normally bite people, and if they are fire ants, you'd definitely feel and see them when it was happening. The way you wrote this, it kind of sounds as if you noticed marks later, and attributed them to ants biting you.
