What do you think of the events that took place this weekend with Jorge Posada "taking himself out of the line-up"? Some reports sayit was for a mental day, some say he's bitter over being knocked back in the line-up. Based on this stunt and his performance, what do you think should happen here?
You can see the story here.
Re: Posada: Right or Wrong??
I saw some of the news conference with the manager and then the interviews with him. Posada said he sat out to take a day off to clear his head and that his back was hurting [or something like that]...and Girardi said he wasn't under the impression Posada was hurt in any way. All this he said/he said stuff was ridiculous and caused way too much drama.
I think he was wrong for taking himself out like, an hour before the game. You talk it out, not pull yourself out of the line-up right before the game. He seems like a drama queen and crybaby. BUT, the team was wrong for how they handled it - a lot of this situation was handled in public, which was completely inappropriate. This whole situation was a hot mess.
Agreed. I think Posada should have discussed the situation rather than pulling himself, and I also agree that the team should have handled it without the public. There was no reason to make it such an ordeal.
I also think it's funny that Jeter is sticking up for him, and mentioned that if he felt that Posada did anything wrong he would tell him. Lame. He should stay out of it instead of adding another nes article on this situation.
Speaking of which, I heard that the team is now mad at Jeter for basically sticking up for Posada. Sheesh. I'm not sure I'd want to play for an organization that openly talks about issues like this that should be kept internal.
haha figures, another piece of drama to drag out this mess. I cannot believe such a huge organization allows all their dirty laundry to air like that. How embarrassing.
he is a very well known player and the Skanks are a very well known team. there is no way it wasn't going to be a story. when a player is scratched an hour before game time for no reason, you best believe the media will find out why.
he is a baby who didn't want to hit 9th. poor little millionaire. the Skanks were so offended by this that they debated out right releasing him. that should tell you how serious it is, seeing as he is probably in the top 50 players in their team history. he needs to just retire....he's all done.
I agree that Posada didn't make the best move- however in a high media city like New York it is impossible for the media not to make a huge deal out of every situation. The media wouldn't let it go and the Yankees front office gave them the face time to address the situation from their end. If you watched how the media "attacked" Posada in the postgame interview you might have felt slightly bad for him. They were relentless.
As for Jeter, he didn't go looking to get involved- he's the captain- I'm sure the media came to him asking how he felt about the situation- he sided with his teamate- right move in my opinion.
