What is an appropriate high school graduation gift? We just got a graduation announcement for DH's cousin (one of many many cousins) and it came with an insert about her having a graduation party with friends at someone's house. We got the announcement Saturday, the graduation/party is this coming Sunday, and we live about 4 hours away. We're not going.
Do I send a gift? If so, it should be money, right? How much? In cash or as a check or does that matter? TIA!

Re: Graduation Gift?
From what I've seen around here anything 20+ is appropriate if you're giving cash.
Dorm supplies or a gift card to Target is great if they're going away to college.
DH is the youth pastor at our church so we have a lot of graduation parties to go to every year. We ususally give a book, journal, or small Starbucks card depending on the year and how we're doing financially/how many kids there are graduating.
P.S. Thanks for the reminder -- I don't know if he's thought about gifts yet but I certainly hadn't and graduation is just around the corner!
MY BLOG!
I'd say $20 to $25 is appropriate if you are giving cash/check. If mailing, I'd do a check just to be sure it is secure.

Cold hard cash. $20 should be fine.
I was responsible for paying a portion of my tuition to my parents (as well as taking out loans and doing workstudy) each year and I was able to put my grad money into a year long CD at my bank to use the following year. I worked like a dog all summer long to have enough money for tuition and fun money through the year so it was nice to have a little cushion.
