what is this show?
LOL. I really wish we had HBO so I coudl watch that show. The characters in the book totally side-eyed the crap out of the EBFing, and the last time I re-read it I actually thought about the nest.

What kind of scene?
It's based on a series of books in sorta the tolkien vein of fantasy, but with a little less in the way of overt magic and a lot more politics. Castles and kings and knights and princesses - and lots of killing and plotting and backstabbing. there are also multiple threads of storyline that are literally worlds apart.
It's very very convoluted, the cast of characters is ridiculously big and it's one of my favorite series ever - even though I had to start jotting down notes in the back cover of the first book to keep people straight.
From everything I've heard they're doing a really good job on the show - spared no expense on sets and costumes and everybody is really well cast. You don't have to have read the books to follow the show at all, but it does help since you don't have to constantly ask yourself, "Ok...who is that again?"

I think she mean sex? And yes, there are quite a few sex scenes in the show. It's HBO, after all, lol.
Aah yes, them and Showtime.
The show is EXCELLENT. I have not read the books but a friend of mine at work has, and so far he has noted only one really big discrepancy that bothered him between the book and the show. It's also nice bc he fills us on in what's important and why it is important, etc.
I haven't seen the most recent episode and now I am concerned because I can't think of any even CLOSE to toddler aged characters on the show!
It's a good show- very compelling.
its someone you meet in the most recent episode, and I'm just going to say not a toddler.
ohhh, what was the discrepancy? If you can think of a way to say it without making it spoilery for others. Obvously spoilers don't apply for me since I've read the books like 3 times now. (I keep rereading whenever he puts out a new one...)

OOOOHHHHH I think I know!
Oh well it was interesting bc I didnt think anything of it but it really bothered him. You know the brothers um....omg. Mountain and the Hound! Well two episodes ago the old flame of Lady Stark (Little Finger?) was telling Sansa about how the Hound got the burns on his face. Apparently in the books the Hound tells Sansa himself and according to joe (my friend at work) the reason why he tells her is very significant?
But that's been the only thing that's really bugged him so far. He's said the series does skip a lot of stuff so thats why it's a bit confusing - bc you don't realize why something is important or whatever - but its starting to come together.
Frankly I think it's worth the price of admission on HBO. It's one of the few hour-long shows that I never check my watch during.
Yes i mean sex. Its just crazy! I believe the one show he was watching was Sparticus or something like that and OOHH EEMM GEEEE.... every other scene in that was someone have sex!

Oh, that is significant. Not hugely so, but in a character development sense. It's one of the moments where the hound stops just being a boogeyman and starts being a real character.
Changes like that annoy me. Cutting things out I get because there's only so much you can cram into a TV show/movie, but just changing details like that? that's dumb.

Yes I watch the show, yes I saw the episode, and yes I was deeply disturbed by that scene!! Ick. I haven't read the books.
I'm reading the first book now and trying to keep ahead of the show. I was surprised and kind of impressed how many lines they lifted directly from the book, so much that I'm having a hard time remembering what happened in the book and what happened in the show now.
The scene in question - DH and I were discussing how you would recruit a child actor for that. Apparently the interwebs are saying it was a prostheses but I can't imagine trying to explain that scene to the kid who has to act it? Sorry if I'm being spoilery.
