Indestructible dog bed?

My dog tears apart anything that we leave in his crate with him.  Now that it is getting colder, I hate the idea of not leaving him with any blankets or old towels.  He tears them apart so quickly though... We tried his dog bed this week, since he is so good with it at night in our room.  Yup, torn apart.

I really want to find an indestructible (or at least mostly so) dog bed/crate liner.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I saw one but it is quite big.  His crate is about 22x36.

 Thanks!

Re: Indestructible dog bed?

  • We have had the same problem with towels and things like that.  We got a dog bed from Orvis with a "less soft, more outdoorsy" type of cover on it that worked for longer than usual- maybe 4 months? Then we actually found a bed at BJs that she doesn't tear apart. And we're totally those pet parents that went back to buy another :)
  • check out pet edge, theyre in woburn.... totally worth the trip though....

petedge.com  and yes they are really that cheap!

we get our dogs everythings there, except for food. waaaayyyy cheaper than anywhere else!

  • Maybe test to see if he'll do ok out of the cage too? you could limit the rooms he has access to. Paulo jumped over gates so we used sheet rock to lock him in the kitchen. maybe you could just block off the living room areas...leave the bedroom and the bathroom and the kitchen available to him? Just dont leave the toilet paper down <chuckle>

I wonder if you left him in the crate and gave him other toys to destroy... he'd focus on those.

I've only used old blankets.Paulo doesn't rip anything but building 19 has some cheap blankets. Could buy a few and just let him shred through em if thats what he needs to do to occupy his crazy self during the day.

Maybe give him a movie to watch to distract him? (seriously...i keep the tv on for paulo)

  • We have yet to find a dog bed that our 112lb yellow lab cannot rip apart! He eats the zipper off in the 1st 10 minutes and then gets into the stuffing. My husband said no more beds for him. :-(
  • wow Kim. I wish I had that site before.

I have to buy my dog a seatbelt for Saturday. 23.00...but...7.00 on this site...what else can I find....

look at the price of the big bones...

    yowzas
