A while ago, I planted some pansies in boxes on the deck and noticed the squirrels like to eat them and roll around in the dirt. Then, last week I planted some small pepper and tomato seedlings and I found the squirrels rolling around the fresh dirt. I don't want them to eat or squish the little seedlings.
I heard that the scent of other animals can repel squirrels so I Furminated the cats and put the hair I pulled off all around the plants. At first I thought I was a genius, now I'm kinda thinking that's disgusting to have cat hair all over the container gardens.
Be honest.
Re: Gross or resourceful?
Resourceful.
I feel like this is an actual "thing," like using human hair clippings in gardens to keep deer away? This is vaguely familiar but I'm not sure.

I though you were going to say this as well. Lol I'd say resourceful. You'll wash the veggies before you eat them so I think it's fine.

Ok, that makes me feel better. The plants are still so small in these big containers that I'm looking down at these tufts of cat hair dotting the soil and thinking I'm nuts.
I have heard that placing little...sachets?...of hair repels deer. My coworker goes to a salon to the get the hair that's been cut off and puts it in old pantyhose. Which makes me gag a little. I have to pull tumbleweeds of cat hair off my pets anyway so I made some adjustments to the idea and hope it works for squirrels.

Somehow human hair from strangers seems gross to me but not fur from my own cats.
