I needs some serious help, but let me start at the begining.
Mom found stray cat/kitten outside of house about 6 months ago. Kitten was itty bitty baby. Both were terrified of people. Mary tells mom get traps and catch them. No one listens. Baby has since become super super tame and sweet. All sorts of friendly. Mama not so much. Mama, has also had litter number 2. Mama and new kittens are being taken in by the neighbor, and she is keeping at least all three kittens. So, we don't need to worry about that.
But original baby, named Sunshine by my Mom (renamed Sonny by me when I saw his boy parts in all their glory) can't stay. He is trying to get into their house, he is tormenting my mom's cat-there in lies the real problem. My Mom is psycho crazy about her cat (and that says a lot from me, since I get being crazy about your pets). She will NOT just keep the cat. Absolutely, hands down, won't do it, because it might upset her cat. Whatever, pisses me off, but nothing I am going to say is going to change that.
Sooooo genius mother finally has enough of her poor sweet kitty being upset by Sonny this am, and calls the humane society. She tells them all about the cat. They then ask has he ever bitten you. No. Scratched? well, yes. Did he draw blood? Well, a little. Ma'am, you need to call the health department, good bye.
OH FFS!!!!! She bleeds if she looks at something sharp.
What should she do? This cat is so super awesome, and really friendly. I am so mad at her for not keeping him but I also know he isn't her cat. It's a stray she has been trying to keep safe
What to do????

No, the cat is trying to get into my Mom's house. I don't think the neighbor is up for taking on a fourth cat either. I can't believe they are taking the three kittens.

Did she explain that this cat was a stray she's been taking care of? I'm not sure I understand why the minor scratch would prevent them from admitting him.
The problem is that right now shelters are really full because it's kitten season. I don't know if you've seen on pets, but we have 2 boys that I took from someone who was going to put them outside. They're intact. Awesome. We've had these boys at least a month and they've been on the wait list to get into the shelter we foster through. We were told it could be 4-8 weeks.
Would she be willing to get him fixed in the meantime? Could he stay in a bathroom or spare room? We have the boys in our guest room. Our cats are curious, but they are used to strange smells because we've been fostering for a year now, so it's NBD.
5 cats. 1 baby.
It just sucks. She did tell the lady at the HS that she had been feeding/taming this cat for the last 6 or so months. That he is super super friendly (and omg he is), really sweet, etc. I guess since he drew blood when he scratched her they want to evaluate him or think he is vicious. IDK.
I know that the shelters are full, and I know rescues are too. Should I try to convince her to temp foster? She did it for me before (and she was not amused when it turned into three months).
