So I don't hijack the breech post: I understand side-eyeing offering c-sections early, especially after what you said about your friend.  It seems like for a lot of people these days, pregnancy & child birth is all about convenience.  It's the new Burger King--have it your way. 

When talking pregnancy with one of my managers early in my pregnancy, she was surprised I was going to try for a med-free vag-birth.  She actually said "no c-section?"  And when I said I was going to work up until I had my baby, that was just unheard of. 

When I was put on modified bedrest at 32 weeks because of blood pressure issues, I was "lucky" because "you can get so much done since you'll be home!"  Yeah...

I have a friend who told me that when her mother was pregnant with an older sibling, the dr offered to deliver the baby early for tax purposes.  And this was over 40 years ago.
