Dusty appearance of hydrangea leaves?
I got a hydrangea a few weeks ago and I've been keeping it in my house at night, and putting in on the deck during the day. It hasn't been nice enough in northern WI to plant it yet. When I put it out today, some of the tops of the leaves looked dusty/ dirty. It kinda wipes off, but not easily. The backs of the leaves are fine. Any idea what it is? Should I remove those leaves? TIA!

Re: Dusty appearance of hydrangea leaves?
It's probably powdery mildew. Does it look like this?
Powdery mildew can be caused by high humidity. Try putting the plant in a space with a dehumidifier or putting it outside during the day. Apparently you can just use spray milk on the leaves to kill the mildew:
Milk will help with the powdery mildew. You can either use it full strength or mix it with half water. Just put it in a spray bottle and spray the heck out of your plants. The milk will dry and form a coating on the plant that will basically suffocate the powdery mildew growing on the leaves. Make sure to get under the leaves as best you can. You will have to do this weekly or every time it rains it will need redone. The best thing is that it is totally harmless to you, your kids, or your pets. and Milk is a lot cheaper that the harsh chemicals they sell on the market.
Fox, yes, you've got it. Milk seems like an easy solution!
NB- I wasn't going to remove the majority of the leaves, just the few affected ones
