Any of you freaks worried about the rapture?
Please engliten me why I should blow all my money before the 21st.
Re: Any of you freaks worried about the rapture?
I really can't wait until nothing happens and these people feel like complete DB's. Many of these people quit their jobs just to tour the US and spread the word. They should all be committed.
(confession: I secretly hope this thread brings out crazycakes lurkers who will preach to us about Judgment Day.)
i toyed with using the word "freaks" i don't want to stop someone from preaching me the truth!
All I'm sayin is I am glad this baby was concieved post-wedding.
Tryin' to score extra points where I can. Just in case
Oh, it's totally going to be all "he saved us!!! He spared you!! We're not worthy!!"
lol!
I had to google to find out more about what the rapture is. Yet another area of my religious ignorance. And I am terrified by what I found. This ish is EFFED UP.
After The Rapture, God will begin executing judgments against unbelievers, during a period called the Tribulation. At the end of the Tribulation all nations will attack Israel, and Jesus Christ will physically return, leading the armies of heaven. At the Battle of Armeggedon they will destroy everyone who is not a believer. Then Satan will be bound, and Jesus will set up the Millennial Kingdom, headquartered in Jerusalem. Jesus and the saints will rule over the nations of the Earth for a thousand years. During this period there will be people born who are not loyal to Christ. However, it usually will not be obvious. Therefore, at the end of the thousand-year period, God will release Satan and let him tempt those who inhabit the Earth. A large group will take up arms against the Lord and be defeated. Then, Christ will judge all who have ever lived, giving rewards to some and punishment to others. Those who were "destroyed" will be cast into the Lake of Fire, i.e., Hell. After that, God will destroy heaven and Earth because they have been polluted by sin. He will create a new heaven and a new Earth, put those who were saved on the new Earth, and rule it forever.
Umm... confusing. I hope god is taking good notes on his plan cause that does not seem simple. Why not just zap all us non-beleivers at once and have it done and over with? I guess we know that god is a man... way to complicated of a plan.
A friend of mine posted this on FB and I thought it was hilarious
Can't take credit for this, but it's too good not to post:Rapture prank: Saturday, take your unwanted clothes, shoes and leave sets of them arranged on sidewalks and lawns around town
That's pretty funny! Back in '88, I was in 8th grade at a Christian school and there was this book that was being distributed: 88 Reasons Christ is Returning in '88. The author presented it would be between 9/11-9/13 that year. I remember all of us crying and hugging and saying "goodbye" at the end of the school day and skipping our homework, just in case.
i purchased the requisite bread, eggs, and milk... just in case.
Doesn't this go against the whole idea of loving everyone and being accepting, etc? I'm so confused. And frankly, I think this is all so "LOSTish" (i.e. sci fi crap).
My little nuggets
We're flying to Madrid on Saturday in the 6pm hour.
I'm lol debating about whether or not we should enquire if our pilot is a devout Christian and if so, do we request someone else.
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
If you read the Bible you'll realize that while God Almighty, like most of us in college, has a peace and love hippy streak, at the end of the day he's crazy jealous and insecure.
Also I may add that a buddy actually tuned into the Christian radio station in his city (who are behind many of the billboards and crazies roaming the streets with hand-outs) and they've clarified that Judgement day STARTS 5/21 but doesn't END until 10/21. So they bought themselves some time to be right.
In the meantime keep your eyes out for blood water, locusts, fireballs from death angels, lizards or whatever else "God" plans to throw our way.
lol!

That was my next question. If it starts Saturday and ends in October..are all the chosen ones going to start dying between these two dates? Cause if your chosen don't you have to die to go with him?
My little nuggets
I unfortunately don't know the answer to that. But I'm sure if you were to ask a believer, their answer may be (as it usually is), "God works in mysterious ways".
Do Jews get raptured? We are the Chosen People, after all.
d'oh, i was JUST about to post this.
but technically, we're not believers.
luckily, I have my earthquake kits packed, so that will help. RIGHT?
Well, frick.
Oh well, I probably had that coming anyway.
Meh, I had a good run. I'll be in Downingtown, maybe I can head through the main line to get some goodies in the post-rapture looting.
I know it's not worth two grains of sand, but here's my theory on the subject. Because it was something crammed down my throat at school I've processed some things that developed my theory.
There's only a few cryptic verses in the bible that refer to Christ returning to earth and others that infer that he'll raise his believers from the dead and take them as well as the ones living with him back to heaven. Pair that with other prophecies and the book of Revelation and there's a TON of stuff that is super confusing that scholars LOVE to decipher and interpret based on culture and language and cross-referencing old testatment and new testament prophecy. blah blah blah
So you end up with different camps of people: pre or post-tribulation rapture, millenialists, etc etc. My take on it is that people waste a TON of time arguing about this stuff. In the end, I personally write it all off as a giant time suck and way to get people all frenzied up into salvation, which isn't really the way the J-man rolled. In fact, of the things that he said on the subject, he pointed out that "no one in heaven or on earth, not even the Son of Man [Jesus], knows the day or the hour except the Father."
So, when someone comes out with some date, I find it funny - bordering on heretical - that they should believe that they would know but Jesus wouldn't.
This is how FI rolls. Although I think it's funny that people are trying to outsmart God. "He told us we won't know! But we'll show him and figure it out!"
If the world is ending in October, maybe we should push on the world series...
Also, this rapture needs to occur after I eat my birthday dinner on Saturday. And plus also, DH's coworker dead seriously asked him if he would be going to church on Saturday morning, and if not, he was welcome to come to his church for the morning "God Help Us" Rature service.
With all this going on, I can't help but wish that I lived next to one of these crazy couponers that have great stock piles. Maybe I should start getting one ready. ha
haha most main stream churches said they haven't cancelled their services for sunday so they are not too worried.
