Ouch.

I just noticed that a nestie defriended me on Facebook.  I know, I know, don't take it personally... guess I just didn't make the cut!  Oh well.

Re: Ouch.

  • I guess I don't really understand the defriending thing. the only time I defriended someone was a former student-athlete of mine (now in their 20's) posted a picture of himself in shorts with his man business sticking out 90 degrees from his body in a semi erect position. Yeah inappropriate and disgusting no thanks!

Umm. Wow!  I think the funniest part is that he was a former student-athlete of yours... haha.

  • :-( Yeah I don't defriend people since I don't friend anyone I want to talk to anyway. That stings!

  • I wouldn't take it personally, honestly. Some people just like to clean things out and so will "defriend" people they don't interact with often. And sometimes things come up where they realize they need to keep their FB more private or something. I doubt any offense was meant.

That happened to me too, I don't get it
  • I defriended a bunch of people from high school last year - not one person I was "friends" with my senior year wished me well when I posted that I had cancer. I didn't and don't need any drama - or really to be friends with anyone who I didn't feel as being supportive.
  • if it was me then it's because i deleted my fb account and just restarted it :)

  • I very rarely defriend people but at the same time sometimes I look at my friends list and I am like who the heck is that person???  Especially with people from here because I have NO CLUE who some of you are in real life.  Like to be completely honest, I don't know who you are and if we are friends Embarrassed  I might know your name here and know a name on FB but I have never connected them.  I look at the common friends when i get a request and if it's obviously a nestie then I will agree.  But I gotta say, I have no idea who some people are!!  So if someone is doing that they might have decided to defriend.  That and I *have* gone through and deleted people who I had never met in person or known for a long time online.  It kind of freaks me out occasionally who might be seeing what.  So I don't think I would take it personally is the short version of my long-windedness.
  • I am curious as to who it is?? Hmmm.......

  • Their loss.  :)

Honestly though, when I feel the need to go through my list it isn't really personal.  It's more of the fact that if I haven't met the person and really don't talk with them.. I think it starts to weird me out to have them see pics and know things about me.  Not that I post anything personal, but I just keep it to people I've physically met.  Even just once, I just feel better about it.

Honestly, I wouldn't think much of it if I was defriended by a Nestie... or thought I was! I've had both experiences in the past.

One was because the girl had cleaned up her friend list to only have people she had met in person and was currently friends with. She and I had never managed to attend a GTG at the same time. When we met a year or so later, we ended up reconnecting on FB too. Another was due to a temporarily disabled account. When the girl reactivated her account, my friend list went up again.

I've considered defriending some former RI Nesties who haven't come on the board in YEARS, and who I don't really interact with on FB aside from occasionally checking their status. But, I haven't done it... yet.

I know.  It isn't keeping me up at night or anything.  And, I have defriended a few nesties when I needed to clean house, but just those who I had no idea who they were even on the board.  But, you know, there's always that insecure part of me that wonders if I did something to offend.  Not a big deal overall, in fact maybe I shouldn't have even posted about it, but I did anyway.  :)
