Need a dinner recommendation
Actually, two. I'll be in Minneapolis on a Friday and Saturday night in July. Unfortunately I will be dining alone. Do you girls have any suggestions? I like to eat just about anything. I'm looking for something nice, but it doesn't have to be super-fancy -- I'll be without kids, so I'd like to eat at some grown-up places, KWIM? A little pricey is OK, but I'd like to not be too pricey both nights, more like a nicer place one night and something more casual the other. Also, since I'll be alone, I don't really want to go somewhere where I'll be the only loner weirdo there. :-) I can sit at the bar or at a table, either is fine with me. Oh and we are at the Marriott City Center and I am terrible with directions, so it would probably be best if I didn't have to navigate too far away from the downtown area.
Re: Need a dinner recommendation
Hi there,
I have a few suggestions. I work really close to where you are staying.
If it's nice outside, I'd go somewhere along Nicollet Mall (that's the name of the street). There's enough people watching to be done at an outside table to make you not feel like a loner. The restaurants that I like include:
Barrio for a-typical Mexican food, The News Room for standard American Fare, Vincente for French food, McCormick and Schmiks for seafood, Masa also for fun Mexican food. If you walk to the south end of Nicollet Mall (about 5 blocks from your hotel) you'll fing Peavey Plaza, an outdoor space where they'll sometimes have live music in the summer.
All those places should have bars where you can belly up for dinner. If there's a Twins game, stear clear of places near the ballpark before the game because they get bonkers.
The City Center Marriott is very centrally located downtown - so you won't have a problem getting around, even without a car.
Casual - I'd take the light rail to Minnehaha Falls and eat at Sea Salt Eatery. http://seasalteatery.wordpress.com/ - they have some of the freshest seafood coming into Minneapolis and the falls are beautiful. You could also do Pizza Luce http://www.pizzaluce.com/locations/ . Kieran's Irish Pub is also great - http://www.kierans.com/sitepages/pid50.php .

My husband raves about the Sea Salt.
For a nicer place you might like Cafe & Bar Lurca, they have a bar area so you could sit and chat with the bartender.
