weird watch reaction?

I just took off my watch and the skin underneath was black. I was able to wash some of it off but it's still there... I've worn this watch for 5 1/2 years. WTF? Is this a weird pregnancy thing or a random skin reaction? I have got black marks with certain earrings but I've never had it with this watch before!

I get that, but that's b/c I never clean my watch and when my wrist gets wet the crud comes off on me

Ok, how do you clean a watch?? Maybe that's my problem... and it's raining so that's probably why.

I use jewelry cleaner, or sometimes drop it off when I'm getting my rings checked. I'll either dunk the wristband in the cleaner, or use that tiny brush if I have time and get in the cracks and crevices.

Hmmm... i've never cleaned it in 5 1/2 years... now I'm feeling gross. I need my rings cleaned (actually redipped too) but I'm lazy.  Good to know! I'm disgusted now.

lol, i think you're doing awesome if this is the first time. Mine gets cruddy about once a year. Sometimes it wont do it the next day so I forget about it until it happens again

oh, this brings back memories of my working days at DQ.  On rainy, slow days I would take a cup of sudsy water and an old tooth brush and clean away.  The band had lots of links to it got all kinds of gunk in it.  It was waterproof so I didn't worry about ruining it.
