Hi FL ladies! Can you help me out?

I would really like to move to Florida, just not sure what part yet. I will be moving alone and plan to get an apartment. What is a nice area that the COL is not too high for a (newly) single person to live? TIA.

Re: Hi FL ladies! Can you help me out?

  • Maybe the eastsiders could answer this better.  Once you get further out from the city the price of housing decreases.  Although that might be good, the night life starts to get a little shaky.  The nice part of Orlando is that the highways and tollroads can get you pretty much anywhere in under 30 minutes so you're still close enough to get in the mix.

Most of our single friends live on the east side.

Anyone else want to chime in?

  • I think all of Central Florida is great.

What industry do you work in?  Traffic can be a bear (I commute 45 minutes each way) so you want to live near work.

  • I would suggest finding a job first and then deciding where to live based on your work location.

Your bio says upstate, NY. I used to live up there too.

  • overall orlando is pretty affordable. I think the idea to work near home is ideal. Tolls and gas can add up pretty quickly.

My heart is as open as the sky.

  • We just moved to Clermont from NJ in June. I love it! Clermont is very "up and coming" but still feels very small town. We live in the Verde Ridge development off of old 50 and blackstill lake road. I highly rec. Verde Ridge - there are 3 builders - Pulte, Hibiscus and Adams Homes. Haven't heard many good things about Adams, but might as well check them out too. Pulte homes start at 199,000...I've even heard that pulte is offering free pools!

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you out with your search! I also had a great realtor!
