North Shore resort/cabin recs?
DH and I are trying to find somewhere to go in late August - anywhere you recommend? We're open to anywhere between Duluth and Grand Marais. Only requirements are that the cabin/condo have a kitchen, and bonuses are a lake view, deck, and dog friendly. We'd like to spend no more than $130 a night, probably 7 nights total. I'm mostly a lurker but I'd love your input! Thanks!
Re: North Shore resort/cabin recs?
We stayed at in one of the lakehomes at Superior Shores for week after our wedding and liked it there. From what I remember, we had a hard time finding a place that would allow dogs and didn't charge a lot of money per night for a dog free. I think we paid under $50 for our 2 dogs to stay in the lakehome with us for the week. It was right on the lake and had a sunroom with a jacuzzi, kitchen, bedroom.

ETA: It's more than you were wanting to spend but just in case youd on't fine another option. It's high season so you might have trouble finding something in the $130/night range for a cabin.

We looked for something last summer and had the same problem with dog friendly places. Most places didn't allow them and the ones that did either had size restrictions or a large fee. I had the best luck finding cabins on vrbo.com. In the end, we went to Ely because there were more options and the rental rates were cheaper.
We had to stay at Superior Shores last minute once and I thought they charged more than $50 for our dog. I'm thinking it was around $75 but maybe it was because of the last minute reservation (we also had to pay the full rate). They have a ton of grassy areas for bathroom breaks.
Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.
