**Mamas**

Any nap time help available?

Brynn has decided over the last few days she just screams and screams for a good 20 minutes before one of two things happens... either she finally passes out or I go in and nurse her.

Once she is asleep she sleeps for a good 2 - 2.5 hours. Sometimes this happens for both naps sometimes just 1.

I'm putting her down when she is showing all of her sleepy cues. It is just so weird!

Re: **Mamas**

  • The only thing I can say is that Dylan went through a phase like that. I would let him cry it out most of the time but I never let him cry for more than a half hour nor had to since he always fell asleep between 15-20 minutes. I would only go in if his cry sounded different like something was wrong. If he was still crying around 20 minutes in then I would go in comfort him, lay him back down and tell him its night night time but I would be a lil firm in how I said it. Usually then he would quiet down and fall asleep. I don't know if this helps you at all but just thought I would share.

  • She just started walking, right?  With new big milestones like that a lot of babies/toddlers will have sleep issues.  They just want to practice their new skills and have a hard time settling down.  The nursing probably just helps to soothe her after her latest new experiences in this big, scary world.

I'd keep doing what you're doing and it will probably pass in a few days.  I'm not a CIO type of mom as they are only so little once and now I have to steal hugs from M as she runs in the other direction.  Snuggle while you still can even if something else has to give.

  • Christina I just saw your post.

Typically she gets up at 6:30 and goes down at 8 8:30 at the latest. Then she usually sleeps about 2 hours is up for 2 - 2.5 hours and then back down for another 2 hours. She goes down for the night between 8 - 8:30

The last week or so she has been sleeping until 7:30 or 8 and then staying up until 10 - 11ish sleeping for about 2 hours and then up until about 3:30ish when she turns into a crazy girl (but won't even think about going down earlier than that) and sleeps for about an hour to 2. Then goes down for the night about 9

I'd look at either A)  putting her down earlier for the first nap (I know this sounds crazy but it worked REALLY well with Lucy for a while

or keeping her up a little longer closer to 3 hours in the AM, seeing how long she naps and then keeping her up another 3 hours and giving her a cat nap because at this point 4-4.5 hours of naptime is pretty long for that age. When Lucy was on 2 naps they added up to about 3-3.5 hours.

She may need to be "run down" more before she can sleep well.
