Etiquette Poll - Spreading Germs

I have that 31 purses party tonight, and i am planning on going, but it occurs to me after my 3rd coworker asked me how I'm feeling that maybe I shouldn't.

I caught a cold last weekend (I think from one of the purse party co-host's husband actually) and today I'm actually feeling fine (not tired anymore, and my sinuses are back to normal) - but I'm coughing up a storm.

Is it rude to go to a party on the tail end of a sickness like this?  Obviously I'm not going to go around coughing on people, but we're all going to be handling the purses and such - so it's not like I can avoid all contact like I do here at work.

Am I even still contagious?

Are you sure the cough is even cold-related? Both DH and I have been coughing up a storm lately b/c of our allergies.

I would go.  Unless you have a wet cough, you're not going to spread anything.

I'd go and just cough into your elbow, a la swine flu epidemic!

If you want to go, go. If you want to bail, you can use the cough as your excuse. Even if you do go, you will probably have to explain to people that "no, you are not contagious".

I'd go, just down some cough medicine before if you want to avoid dirty looks, but after being sick for a week (?) I doubt you are contagious at all.

Yep, sick for a week.  It had a sore throat on monday and then on tuesday the sinuses got in on the action and I was MISERABLE.  I went to bed around 7 on tuesday (propped up in bed) just to escape the throbbing.  Felt much better wednesday, and yesterday, just a little bit of a cough and still had the sore throat, and then today the cough is worse for some reason, but I feel fine.  (last hurrah of the post nasal drip?)

For the other comments - I know it's not my allergies, because those are just constant background stuffy nose that I'm used to.  I don't really get a cough from that.  It's all in my nose and I just sneeze a lot.

So, so I'll suck on some cough drops (I hate hate hate cold medicine.  I'd rather stay home than take cough syrup) and head on over and buy me some purses.    thanks ladies.

To be clear - I do want to go to this.  The co-hosts are two of my close friends and I actually want to buy a new lunch tote!
