Poll: The Holidays...

I know some people are really stressed about it, but who's excited?  I'm really excited about them and rarely get stressed.  It's my favorite time of the year - I'm too happy to be stressed!  As far as preparation goes, so far I've gathered some new recipes to try for both holidays and bought a good number of Christmas gifts.

Is anyone else excited?

Re: Poll: The Holidays...

  • i honestly haven't thought much about them other than, i want new trees for the house...LOL

we are not stressed about them...the only stress comes in planning what family to visit...

  • I'm really exited!! This is the first christmas in our home. We are having my families christmas at our house! I've got plenty to do

  • I'm really excited for Ava.  This will be the first year that she will understand everything.  She is going to have so much fun!  I can't wait!
  • I'm thrilled!!!! I've already been looking at new decorations for the house! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays though so I'm trying not to overshadow it by Christmas. :o)
  • I am very excited!  Other than working out our travel plans, I'm not too stressed out about anything yet. :)

  • I am VERY excited! I think DS will enjoy it more this year...I am not looking forward to the stress of traveling and dividing up our time "equally" so as to please everyone...sigh...
  • I wish I could say I'm excited but everything is so up in the air right now and usually is each year.  We can't plan til we know where/if we go to a bowl game.  Our life is centered around that as DH usually has to report on Christmas day to whatever bowl we go to.  So we usually leave that morning after brunch from my parents to go to the bowl site.

But oh well, what's important is that we do get some time w/my family and that DH and I are together.  I won't decorate much til we get a bigger house or have kids to really enjoy it.

  • Me, me, me!  I am so excited about the holidays...and all the preparations that come along with them.  Familly, decorating, cooking, shopping for gifts...I can't wait!  We haven't bought the first Christmas present though...I gotta get on that!

  • i am excited that i get to see my family and dh's family. we don't get to see them much since we live so far away. :(
  • This will be our first holiday season in OUR house.  I am really really excited.  I can't wait to be able to decorate and just do things the way I want.  DH loves to decorate for the seasons.  I am really looking forward to it1

  • I'm just not into it yet.  I have a plan for our family time, and people will complain, but I'm used to it.  I think I will be more excited once Halloween has passed and it cools off some more.
  • I love the holidays and am super excited about them....just worried about our budget this year.
  • It still hasn't hit me yet. I am still ust realizing that summer is over! I love the holiday season, I just don't feel ready for it to be here.

  • I am super excited!!!  I have already bought half of my presents!  I love all this time of year from Halloween to New years!!!  It does get stressful trying to pick which events to go to (DH's family has like 20) but it is still enjoyable!!!!  Can't wait!!1

  • I guess I'm neutral right now.  I always try to take it a holiday at a time and I don't get really excited for Christmas until closer to Thanksgiving.  But this is the start of my baking season so I am excited about that. :)

We don't buy Christmas presents since our budget is so tight.  I've been trying to talk Scrooge (aka DH) into getting a Christmas tree, we've been married for almost 4 years and we've never had one.  Sad, huh?  I usually put out some poinsiettas and decorate the mantle, but I would really like to get a tree this year.

    Siggy coming soon....

That's sad! I hope you get your tree. Just get a fake one and then you can put it up every Christmas!

  • OMG...I am super excited!  I have had my fall decorations out since the last week in August.  That way my pumpkins and leaves get plenty of time on display..lol!

I am always excited about Christmas!  I love putting up the tree....wraping presents....getting to eat all those comfort foods...and having our whole family together!  I try not to stress about buying gifts and such...I try to just enjoy the season :)

It would be a fake one, I don't like the real ones.  Even if it's a 4-foot I would be happy!  Ugh!

  • Wendy, that is sad! You should get one when they go on major sale after Xmas and then you can have one every year and get a nicer one for cheap!
  • I'm completely excited.  I love the holidays.

There are people around me that I refuse to talk to in December because I don't want their negativity bringing me down.  I love that time of year!

Yeah I guess I could do that.  My mom said she would let me borrow her other one because she got a new one last year.

It's not that my husband hates Christmas, per se.  He just hates the fact that it is so overdone and commercialized.  I mean, stores put out Christmas displays and play Christmas music before Halloween.  By the time Christmas actually rolls around he gets sick of it and he just doesn't want to bother with a tree.  He did say that if and when we have kids then it'll be different and more fun even.  I agree with him in with his views because it is too commercialized, but I still want a tree.  Men...

  • Wendy- when I was stilla t Auburn and completely broke we bought a 6 foot fake tree from Wal-mart for $35.  It was out in the garden section not even with the seasonal Christmas stuff.  Apparently they sell them year round so you might be able to find a really cheap one there.  Everyone needs a Christmas tree!!!!!

  • Thanks Jaime.  I'll remember that.  Even last year at his grandparents his dad said that same thing to him.  Hopefully he'll listen to reason. :)
