We have a little gas grill that we have been looking for a reason to replace, so now that the handle has broken, it's time to do so. Adam's only requirements: good quality and under $1k. I think that spending less than $1k should be obvious, he tells me that a good grill is going to cost that much. The man is not bobby flay, he just needs something w/ a decent surface area that heats evenly to avoid poor cooking. One of those side burners for sauce/beans would be fine, but not necessary. An oven would be completely unnecessary and I'd prefer not to have one more thing that could malfunction.
Right now he is liking the Jenn Air model at Costco. It is $700, and I think we could do better for the money. Jenn Air is a great name, but I think of more interior appliances, and lean towards Weber for outside.
What type of grill do you have, and how does it cook, how has it held up? Where is the best place to buy one - sears? lowes? I know he won't entertain looking at target, etc.

Since he won't entertain Target, I'm guessing HyVee is out too. I've heard really good reviews from people who have bought this grill. I guess it's pretty much the same as the one that HyVee featured last year, but this one has the side burners (or something like that).
Add that to $180 of free groceries and it makes it a great deal. My parents bought 2, one for them and one for my grandma, and said that they'd use all but 3 or 4 of the coupons.
Just a thought!
We actually have a John Deere grill...yep, they make grills. We got it at the John Deere dealership in Perry (I think). We've had it for 5 years and it still looks really nice and works great. We really have not had any problems with it. We opt-ed out of the side burners and just went with the big grilling space. DH does all the grilling and he loves it.
We love our Weber grill! We got it on sale last summer at Home Depot for $585.
They also carry this grill at Lowes, when we bought our it was cheaper at Lowes but HD has a meet & beat price policy, so they match the price & take an additional 10% off. (We just had to bring a print out with the price & model #, it was really easy) If you aren't in a rush I would watch for sales, I would expect some sales with the holidays coming up.
We're actually looking for grills too, and I just looked them up on Consumer Reports.
The highest rated gas grill was $950, a Vermont Castings Signature Series. Next was a Weber Genesis for $850. After that, was this CharBroil Red for only $400 from Home Depot - not a bad price! That's probably what we're going to get.
