Summer in Boise

Hi! I'm Cassie. My husband (Asa) and I moved to Boise last July from Washington.

I know there are lots of things to do here in the Boise, but what are some things you guys like to do? Or would even recommend doing?

I used to live in Boise and still go frequently since my mom lives there but I live in Mountain home, My favorite place is Camels back park....nothing but trails and a gorgeous view... Its great, Im from Washington too, Lakewood. If you have any questions please feel free to ask away. or find me on facebook.  lovemi4lifebaby@yahoo.com

  • Summers in Boise are great!  They can be hot, but they're beautiful!  You have to float the river at least once.  You start out at Barber Park and float down to Ann Morrison.  They have buses to take you back to your car.  Biking and hiking on the greenbelt is a must, especially in the early morning or around 8:00 pm or so.

Check out Idaho Shakespeare Festival.  It's fantastic!  Even if you're not a huge Shakespeare fan, it's a good time.  You can bring a picnic dinner with wine or beer or just buy food there.  The Twilight Criterium is a huge bike race downtown on July 16th.  It's so much fun to go down there and watch the bikers (Be sure to go early and stake out a stop on one of the corners).

I don't know if you drink or not, but the Boise BeerFest and Tour de Fat are always a great time.  And just hanging out downtown is great too.  There is Saturday Market and summer festivals in the park.  Check out the Outlaw Concert Series and Eagle River Pavillion for concert info.

  • We moved from the Chehalis area. I'm really excited for all the things we can do outdoors this summer! It seemed like we were always trapped inside in WA.

I've driven by Camels Back Park a couple times. It looks really pretty out there.

How is the river flow? Are there low spots that you have to walk?

     Thank you ladies!

  • These ladies have mentioned everything I was going to tell you!  :)

Joel and I LOVE the Shakespeare Festival and try to go at least once a summer.

As far as the river float, there are usually a couple of spots where you have to pick up your bum as you go over rocks, but nothing where you have to walk.  It has been a really wet spring, however, and the river is really high this year.

There are also a lot of great restaurants in Boise - many of them have patios.  We like to ride our bikes around downtown and stop for dinner.
