gift ideas please
I have been trying to think of something for DD's preschool teachers and the director for the end of the year, actually end of everything... the school after over 50 years is closing. 
It is very sad for the staff and community b/c the church wants to make more money by leasing the space to businesses in the future, so decided to not have the preschool anymore. I wanted to give something special from DD. I only have a couple weeks until the last day and I just don't have any ideas. TIA
Re: gift ideas please
One of my favorite "teacher" gifts was when a student (prek) decorated a canvas tote bag for me. I ended up using it on all my interviews, etc. and it was a great conversation starter. The little girl drew a picture of me and her and then they somehow attached it to the bag.
My favorite gifts from students that were'nt "teacher-y" were gift cards for manicures
You could try to plan with the other parents and have the kids all make a picture (have them do a self portrait or something) and then turn it into a book for teachers to keep. Those are always nice and would be a special keepsake. You could have them finish a sentnce like "I love my teacher because___" or "My favortie thing about teacher is___" and they can draw a picture to match their words.
Stay away from apples and typical teachery stuff (unless it's a really yummy candy apple!)-after your first year teaching that stuff gets old.
