Has anyone bought a 1/2 or 1/4 of a cow? What time of year did you buy? From what farm did you buy? Anything I should think about or know before buying?
Re: Buying beef in bulk
We bought half of a half (it's different than a quarter...)
last winter. Our friend's dad raises cattle and that's where we got it. I blogged about it; it's a LOT of beef.

Hmmm...I don't know, but I could ask.

Grassfields just sent an email saying that they will have some available soon.
"We will be sending some of our grass fed beef in for processing next week. It's the same meat that we sell from the Farm Store, but in larger quantities. A 1/4 beef will give you about 130# of meat home in your freezer (variety of all the cuts). It's costs about $500 for the meat plus about $115 for the processing...equaling about $5/pound for steaks, roasts, ground beef, etc. Please let me know if you'd like to order. We won't be sending beef again for several months. Our beef is free of growth hormones, pesticide treated grass, antibiotics, or any type of grains. In the winter they eat dry hay."
