intro and question

Hello!  I'm romigu - I usually hang out on my local board and the pregnancy boards but I am about to take on our front lawn overhaul and needed help.

I live in zone 8 (Texas) and do not know where to start for zone specific inspiration/DIY ideas.  Do you ladies have any suggestions for websites or blogs?  Even if they're not zone specific, I'd like to be able to look at something other than HGTV's website.  Thanks in advance!

Re: intro and question

  • Better Homes and Gardens website has a regional tag.  You can type in your zip code, it'll go to your zone and then it'll list plants for your zone and info about them.  There are also landscape styles, or you could search by garden colors like if you were looking for the best blue flowers etc.

I browse a lot of catalogs like Michigan Bulbs, Springhill Nursery, Burpees, Gurneys.

Your local gardening center will have plants that are appropriate to plant for your area and they usually only put out plants when it is time to plant them.  Like you probably wont see tulip bulbs out right now but you will in the fall.
