What soil to get for vegetable garden?
What soil should I purchase for a raised bed that I am starting.
Should I get the miracle garden soil for vegetables/fruit and a bag of compos (i.e. mushromm)? Or, an organic soil.
I am in Houston, Texas
Re: What soil to get for vegetable garden?
Get yourself to a nursery or Ace Hardware and buy Randy Lemmon's Gulf Coast Gardening book. He is here in Houston and you can listen to him on 740 AM each Sat and Sunday morning. He knows his stuff.
Here is an excerpt from his book in regards to soil. http://books.google.com/books?id=b6njoC2q1vQC&pg=PA13&lpg=PA13&dq=randy+lemmon+rose+soil&source=bl&ots=hMTYCvQOVR&sig=_3tnngm-NWBGoMuLMUziCdv-CKU&hl=en&ei=JaHZTdHjCdSz0QGEuIH8Aw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CBYQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q&f=false
If you are north Houston, you can go to Natures Way to get their soil or you can have them deliver. It is supurb. Also, their leaf mold compost is very good.
