Whoops!
So remember when I posted about how my ILs basically didn't invite us on the family vacation? Well, I get this text from SIL that says half the people couldn't get that particular weekend off, so let me know what weekend works for you guys!
Well, I was all butthurt when it first happened but then I had a logical thought and realized there is no effing way I want to spend a vacation with my ILs.
Now I have to make up something stupid about how we can't go, HA!
Does it sound believable if I say, "We reviewed our finances and really can't afford a trip this summer" (this gives me an out for my NYC vacation in the fall, right)?

Now that that's out the way, your "excuse" doesn't even sound like a fake excuse. You already have a trip planned for the fall. You don't have it in the vacation budget for a fall trip and a (somewhat last minute) summer trip. Boom, done. No hiding or lying.
