Cat Rescue ladies, help please.

There are outdoor cats that hang out in our neighborhood. Up until this point the only thing that bothered me is that my dog would see them from inside and bark like crazy and wake my son up when I'd try to put him down for a nap. But that was pretty much when he was little and it hasn't been an issue since. (I do forsee this as a problem when the new baby comes though!) I'm guessing someone puts food out for them (not us!) and I sure wish they would hang out in that person's yard but they are drawn to the woods behind ours.

Lately there seems to be more and more (like 6 or 7) of them and now my next door neighbor said that his front porch smells like cat pee and so does his car cover. Tonight my H was outside and saw that one of them has made a nest in our brush and has kittens that are so little they can't even open their eyes.

There doesn't appear to be an animal control in my county unless you pay for a private pest control. I emailed the SPCA and they said they would provide humane traps but it would be up to me to transport the cats in traps to them.

Honestly I'm not a cat person and the thought of putting these cats in my car turns me off.

We don't know who they "belong" to, they don't have collars. They certainly don't seem like indoor/outdoor cats....seems just like outdoor cats. I don't know if this is the definition of Feral or not.

Besides getting the traps from SPCA, trapping and then transporting them myself, do you know of any other options? I would just like someone else to come and take care of this!

Transporting them to the SPCA is probably the best scenario. We foster for them. If the kittens can't open their eyes yet then they are pretty new. It is important to try and get momma and her kittens fixed so you don't keep ending up with more kittens. ETA: Is momma friendly? If not you'll want to cover the trap with a thick sheet or blanket.

Thanks, she looked frightened when we peeked in. I told H we were too close to her kittens and we should just leave her alone.

UGH this whole thing makes me so mad. I know it's not their fault....but I hate cats! I've done nothing to keep them in my yard-have not fed them, have not left water out for them, in fact I try to let the dog out to chase them away any time I see them. I can't stand that someone else was an irresponsible pet owner and now this is MY problem. Because if I manage to trap the momma cat and not the babies then I have to live with the guilt that the babies will die 30 feet from my house because I took their momma away.

The spca is only open during work hours mon-fri and it's a 30 minute drive each way. I don't want these dirty cats in my car and everything I do these days takes effort because I am waddling. I emailed a cat rescue...I just wish someone else  would take them away for me. Did I mention I hate cats!?
