Possibly moving to Louisville - Recommendations?
We are very close to making a move to Louisville, can anyone give me some great recommendations for:
Pediatrician or family doc that supports delayed vaccination

Best Hospital to take children (in case of emergency)
Reasonable and reputable hair salon
Massage Therapist
Hot Yoga Studio
Mom's group
Fun places to take the kids

Neighborhood to live - I have gotten lots of recommendations for St. Matthews - I would love to live somewhere that is extremely family friendly and we can walk to parks and stores.

Re: Possibly moving to Louisville - Recommendations?
I moved to Louisville in Dec. 2007, so I don't have the best insider info, but I'll recommend what I can.
What part of town will you be living in?
I am not much help, but maybe I gave you some information that helps. Good luck on the move. It's a nice city. I really like it here. Let me know if you have more questions.
Hi! I live in the hikes point area, right by St. Matthews. I believe St. Matthews is a great place to live! Especially considering your questions above. There are many catholic schools/churches in the area, Seneca park is nearby, and there are many places along Shelbyville road you could walk to if you find a house in the right spot. One of my best friends lives in the area and we have walked to dinner on more than one occasion.
Best Hospital to take children (in case of emergency): I am partial to Baptist East because they are very nice and have taken good care of family members. But I have no experience with children there. I would have to agree with another poster on Norton's because it is associated with Kosair's Children Hospital. St. Matthews is very close to Baptist East and Norton's.
Reasonable and reputable hair salon: There are several nice hair salons in the St. Matthews area. I have been to Z-Salon at hurstbourne and Shelbyville and loved my visit.
Massage Therapist
Hot Yoga Studio
Mom's group
Fun places to take the kids: Waterfront Park, Children's Museum, Huber's Farm in Starlight, IN.
Gym with an outdoor pool: Jewish Community center, Northeast YMCA
Farmers Markets or best place to buy local and organic foods: Whole Foods on Shelbyville Rd, Paul's Fruit Market is also a great place to find local food. There are many events held throughout the year in Louisville that will help you to become familiar with what the city has to offer.Don't forget to go to the St.James Art fair!
Good Luck with the move!
