Potty Training

This is one of the areas of parenthood where I am completely clueless.

So, Neena has been having dry dipes and is choosing to pee as soon as we take her dipe off. She goes to a little corner, squats and pees. She still poops in her dipe (same time everyday) and is squatting and signing dirty diaper to me when she does it. Are these signs that she may be ready for the beginning stages of potty training? Or, should I wait?

Also, if we decide to go the training route, what training seats do you all reccomend?

  • All I've got to say is, 'holy crap, that is awesome'.  No pun intended.

  • In my opinion she sounds ready.  I think if a child can tell you that they went potty that they can learn to go potty on the toilet.  I was potty trained at 16 months so I say go with it.  Even if it's not done in a week or two I would say going with it will be more beneficial than missing this window of opportunity.  We have the Bjorn chairs and potty seats and have no complaints :) Good Luck! We just did a lot of naked and it worked like a charm.

  • She definitely sounds ready to start.  We have a little potty that C perfers to sit on as opposed to something that fits on the regular toilet, but I think every child has their own preference.  Good luck!
