I don't have an issue with it, but I don't understand if their 5 year old is already having issues with their current parents approach, why they are continuing with it?

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Obviously, sex and gender are two different things, and it sounds as if the parents are only focusing on the gender aspect of it, and not any of the sex part.
I think it's a fair thing to do, I truly believe in our childrens generation that transgendered people will be as common, and as excepted as gay/lesbian/bisexuals are now.
I'm interested to see where the kids are come their teens - and how this worked out for the family. But as someone with a sibling who is currently struggling with gender orientation, this process does intrigue me, and although they may be going to far with it - letting boys wear pink with long hair, and not announcing the sex of their child because they dont know which gender their child will choose... I see nothing wrong with that.
Now, their idea of home education on the other hand...

12/10 - Unmedicated cycle due to RE not doing treatments in December = BFN

2/11 - Same sh!t, different month = IUI cancelled due to no response = BFN

ER 5/21 - 13 retrieved, 7 mature, 5 fertilized; ET 5/26 - transferred one perfect 1AA blast. 3 snowbabies.
