So we are going forward with our house! We picked out everything this past weekend and I looking at kitchen appliances. We picked the lighter oak cabinets, not my favorite but what we went with, a darker counter top and brown flooring. I don't have pictures of any of these because we are building with a contractor that gives us choices to pick from.
My question is... what color appliances would you go with using the very limited description I have given you. My husband does not want stainless steel
so I am looking at the choices of black or white.

I was thinking more about the black only because I really hate the white appliances... I think they look cheaper.
Thanks for your suggestions, I really don't know what I want. I am searching the net for pictures.
I agree with you. They remind me of apartments.

There are nicer white appliances than just the cheapest grade ones. Many of the same styles that come in SS are available in white too.

I think we are really liking the french door refrigerator... the white did not look horrible, thanks Mary. It is really hard though because I can't walk into my kitchen and make decisions. We talk with the contractor again on Friday so I think I will go through the model home and see what appliances they had, I can't remember if they were white or black.
Thanks again for the suggestions.

Here is the model homes kitchen. Our cabinets will be lighter and a slightly different design and my DH is loving the red paint. I am truly not sure about the color and that will probably not be finalized until the house is built and we are ready to move into.

My first thought was white, but after the virtual tour, I'm not sure. I think it would depend more on your paint color. If you would go with a richer color on the wall, I think the black would be better. I can't visualize white appliances with that deep red paint.
However, a more subdued color on the walls and I think the white would be fine.
My parents just built a new house... they're kitchen is very eathy-toned (beige tile/counter tops and a cherry-toned cabinet) but their appliances are black. It looks really nice! I say go for black.
