Going Green

Ive been trying to "green" our lives for a while and think Im off to a good start but I started having a little bit of trouble with all the gifts we got for our wedding.  What should I do with the old stuff like towels how do you recycle towels and bed linens??

Re: Going Green

  • Give them away to Goodwill.  I've donated old towel to animal shelters before so you can give them a call.  I've also used old bed sheets for picnics!!

  • Second giving any towels/blankets/linens to animal shelters or boarding kennels. Joining Freecycle is a good option too.
I like salad bar, I like Despicable Me, tosh 2.0, I like Connect 4, Freedom of Speech, David Fincher, sidewalk, I like 1-800-SLIM, yo mama jokes, strawberry, Wilmer Valmavelma, Leon J. • I wouldn't give them away so soon unless you have a storage problem.  They can be used for all sorts of things around the house.
  • Recycle them to clean rags and never buy paper towels again!  I attach old towels to the end of a Swiffer to clean the floors, use them for small spills in the kitchen, use them to give the animals baths, etc.  I find a dozen uses for old towels.  More uses then I have for new towels!

Hey, I never thought about that!!  How clever!  I can't wait to try it next time I Swiffer.

  • Don't throw them away; but, either reuse them for something or give them away (Goodwill or a dog shelter).
  • If you have pets, Molly Mutt has beds that you are able to stuff with old clothes, towels, and blankets instead of throwing them out.

  • Ditto the uses above.  Old linens also make great painting drop cloths, or a cover for anytime you're doing something messy.

  • Thanks for the great ideas ladies! Smile I feel really bad throwing stuff out

i used old fitted sheets to wrap around my back seat in my car when I take the bulldog for rides. Her short little hairs get stuck in everything and doing this catches a huge amount.
